Banana Milkshake

Submitted by Liam on 24 September 2006 - 1:20pm.

1 banana
2 tspn sugar
1 pint of milk

Put it all in a blender and blitz on the highest setting til it is all combined, the sugar has dissolved and it looks slightly thick.

Options: Add a raw egg if you like it really thick and frothy and don't mind taking the risk. Thats on your own head though as raw eggs can be bad for you.
The older and browner the banana the better, as long as its still ok to eat. Older bananas have more flavour and this is a good use for ones that you wouldn't normally eat because they're too soft. However you might want to use less sugar as old bananas are generally sweeter.

Thought you used honey sometimes, or was that my imagination?

Honey can work well too, though I prefer to use a quite mild one otherwise it tends to swampt the flavour.

This can also be made alcoholic by the addition of Dark Rum, or Mead, whichever you prefer. Maybe it was the time I made it with Mead that you're thinking of?

If you really want to zap up the taste of any milkshake or smoothie nip to the Euro deli Lupi Pinto on Leven Street and pick yourself up a nice jar of Marshmallow Fluff the stuff makes shakes taste fantastic :)

Sounds good, though I'd cut out the sugar if I was adding marshmallow. Otherwise it might get a bit sickly sweet.
