Liams Spicy Beans

I like beans. In fact I can say that I really like beans. All kinds of beans.

I like spicy food. Not too spicy, but enough to tingle your tongue and warm your cockles.

I combined the 2 and this is what I got. Enjoy.

500g minced beef (or lamb is good too)
2 tins chopped tomatoes
2 tins of Baked Beans
1 tspn Turmeric
1 tspn Cumin powder
1 tspn Coriander powder
Chilli powder to taste
1-4 tbspn Sweet chilli sauce (depending on taste)
1/2 tspn garlic salt
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 chopped peppers (green and red are good)
1 large onion, chopped
1 tbspn olive oil

Slowly fry the garlic and the onions in the oil until the soften, then add the peppers for a minute before you throw in the tomatoes, spices and the mince. cook for 20 minutes until its all combines and the mice is broken up. Then add the bean and slowly cook for another 10-20 minutes until it has reduced into a tasty thick sauce.

I usually serve this with Naan bread or a crusty white loaf for a heary spicy winter meal.

Options: Try using Jamaican Jerk seasoning or Fajita seasoning mix instead of the spice mix above.
You can also fry the mince off first and add it at the end if you want to use more beans and less tomatoes. this gives you a beanier mix and is less like a tomato saudce with beans in it ;)
This also works well as a filling for Burritos if you want.

Enjoy,

In the south, New Orleans-way, they would probably add a dash of bourbon to a dish like this. Any thoughts?

Never thought to try, though I could be persuaded. I don't drink the stuff though so there's never any in the house and I'm sure as hell not throwing in any of the Single Malts that I have on the off chance ;)

Give it a try and see what its like and then let us know. I could see it working though.

Be it ever so humble, there's no place like my shop :)
