I came once to a small casual tournament when the game first came out, im a bit of a newbie and am wondering if i can still use the cards when the game first came out and if they are still balanced with the new card sets. To be honest i'd love to get into this game again :).

Yes you can still use your old cards. Some of them have been superseded but most of them still see a lot of play :)
