Rob Deb - The Geek off

Submitted by Liam on 21 August 2007 - 9:57am.

Rob's last night is this coming Saturday and he's planning a bit of a geek based blowout. That's right it's going to be a geek off of cyclopean proportions. He'll be interspercing his usual routine with questions from the audience and he wants as many gamers geeks and nerds as possible. As he put it, the last night is for you guys so bring along a question or two.

If you haven't seen him yet then why not come along with me and whoever else out of this motley crew I call staff I can round up and take part in what promises (if its anything like last year) to be the best nights performance yet!

(And he didn't even pay me to say that, what more of an endorsement could you ask for...)

See you there, Jeckyl & Hyde, 20:30 Saturday August 25th and be sure to bring a geek or gaming based question to puzzle him with.

So Saturday was, by far, one of the best comedy shows I've been to see in my life. The lines were sharper, the wit more geeky and even the way Rob handled and held himself together through one group of drunks heckling after another he still made me belly laugh like only me and Weird Pete can.

From the Warlock of Firetop mountain (25th Anniversary edition, with accompanying map) to Street Fighter 2 (Eddie Honda's still the man), from Dragonlance to Mario Brothers (do you know your deathknights from your healing mushrooms?) he covered an astonishing amount of material, some old and revisited and a lot new.

All in all Saturday nights geek off was one of the funniest nights comedy I've ever been too and I only wish I'd been able to go to the pub with Rob and everyone else after.

Good luck to Rob and I hope he'll be back next year because frankly, the Fringe won't be as good without a Geek in the basement.

Oh, and if the woman who reviewed Rob and gave him one star ever creeps in and reads this, all I'm going to say is: Nice armour ;)

As he said on Saturday, much like jesus, he only had one star to guide him.
