Will this be coming into the shop and if so do we have a timescale??

Yet another minis game to add to the collection but you cant beat huge big ships lobbing shells at each other.

Axis and Allies War at Sea should come into the shop on Friday. I know there's a lot of people who're quite excited about this one :)

Then I shall have to trundle along at lunchtime on Friday to aquire me a starter set.

Joy

Assuming my BF Evo stuff is in before then, then that'll be two trips in one week.

Double Joy.

Wizards have just released their final preview of this game. It's the really big Yamato Battleship with moving turrets!!!!. Can't wait, bet I don't get one in my boosters though :)

Well I got the starter pack and booster open and a reasonable selection of minis but quite a slant towards the Allies so far.

Rares were the French Battleship Richelieu and the Japanese Carrier the Akagi. Seems you get one bigger ship per booster and then a mix of the other smaller stuff, usually including an aircraft.

Had a test game last night. Had to have a bit of a mixed force as not enough Axis but it worked for trying out the rules.

Main thing of note is Torpedoes when they do hit are quite lethal. Especially against the higher armoured ships as they pretty much bypass the the normal armour. Only real way to take out the battleship was torpedoes.

Aircraft are also very important but you do need to have enough to be able to penetrate the anti-aircraft guns. Aircraft are hard to kill but easier to cause to abort. Also very good at picking on loan ships which dont have the benefit of other ships to throw up a big flak screen. I dont have any fighters yet though to see how escorting and defense with those work.

Anyway more will be getting bought as it seems a very nice game (also doesnt suffer the infinite range issue that SW Starships has).

We played 4 player 100 pts each last night.
Excellent game. Aircraft can do a lot of damage if you don't have any fighter escorts!!!! My Bismark finally sunk under the onslaught!!!

HMS Hood can let you down with its fatal flaw special ability. It can just blow up when hit by main gunnery. OUCH:(

We are playing at Edinburgh League of gamers again next wed if anyone's interested in seeing how it works etc.
