Some days you just want to close up and go home. Sometimes you get stuck behind your counter listening to some muppet tell you all about his new character for two hours. You know, the magic paladin with the magic horse and the magic saddle and magic bridle and magic sword and ma...
Thats another story though.
Some days though, you have a moment that really makes it all worth while. Like just now.
One of my customers has a son called Paul. Paul is 8 years old and has been playing D&D for almost 2 years now. He has an elf fighter at the moment. He came in with pictures he'd drawn for each of the shop staff today. He made us Christmas posters to say thank you.
Thats why I do this.
It might not sound like much, but it was really nice and it made me smile to know that we'd made a child so happy. So happy that he made us posters was even better.
So thats all I had to say really. Sometimes its nice to be reminded that you do this not just for the games and certainly not just for the money but that you do it to bring joy and happiness to people.
Today was a day when an 8 year old child reminded me of just that.
Merry Christmas.
