Worldwide D&D Game Day

Submitted by escapistthx on 9 October 2006 - 1:16pm.

Do Black Lion have any plans for this?

Worldwide D&D Game Day Website This year it's on Saturday November 4th.

If not I'd like to do something with ORC for it and would welcome input.

BTW Iain/Liam - I tried to post this under General Roleplaying but it said "The item General roleplaying is only a container for forums. Please select one of the forums below it." However there are no forums under it... Or am I mistaken?

Cheers,

Dave

Our suppliers normally get things from Wizards to run official event type things with so I shall see if they're sending us anything this year and chat to Liam about what to do with it all. Although we have Warmachine on that saturday in the shop basement.

I should point out that any D&D GMs looking to run at the Nationals could use this as a starting point for running one-off playtests...

I'm happy for ORC to host it providing our current venue, The 3 Tuns, is ok with it which I think it's safe to say they will be. Alternatively we could try and host it at Bacchus which is owned by the same people and if I'm correct is bigger (never been).

Ideally we would use the Royal Engineer's Club as it can host 6 games easily with 8 at a push in the main room (there are other rooms we can use) but it's having some major construction surgery done at the moment so unlikely to be available.

Also looking for suggestions on how to promote ORC & D&D Day to "kids" either through schools or libraries. Thoughts?

Ok it's looking like ORC will have at least 2 D&D games on this date.

Lucy - Any news on whether Black Lion is getting anything for this?

Cheers,

Dave

We've had some preliminary stuff coming through, if you like we can get hold of the official adventure for the day which normally comes with some freebies attached.

That'd be great. The Characters for the freebie adventure are all downloadable from the website but the adventure etc aren't.

I might pop in to the shop tomorrow pre-ORC, undecided as yet as it depends on whether I can tear myself away from the wee one (oh and Fiona too).

I shall see about the adventure itself then

Forgiving the misspelling of Edinburgh and saying it's in England, Black Lion is now listed as a venue.
Does this mean that ORC can 'host' this on Black Lion's behalf?
If so then it's unlikely that I will be able to pop in to the shop until the 4th itself. Is that OK?

Dave

I hope you guys will run it yeah! We are signed up for it but not on the premises. Once the pack comes in I will let you guys know and then you can decide if you need it beforehand, I guess GM's might want to look at the adventure beforehand but we'll see.

If I'm in Edinburgh before the 4th then I'll make the effort to pop in. Failing that I'll ask one of the guys to pop in to get it.

I understand that Chris has picked this up on my behalf. Thanks very much, I'll do a write up of how the event goes.

I was addicted to D&D a long time ago and i've moved on to WoW now just like most others. Got to love these games. While in Greece though since I go so often my second favorite is backgammon you can walk into almost any cafe there order a cup of coffee and sit and play backgammon and now they are starting to bring in other board games to let their customers play while hanging out.
