Gamers in West Lothian

Submitted by Azhdeen on 9 October 2006 - 7:14am.

Hi,

I had heard there was a gaming club in Livingston, which I was hoping someone might know something about.

Currently I go to SESWC in Edinburgh and will be looking soon to attend other like the League

I am open to any games, though recently started into Dreamblade I am looking for others in the area who would be interested in playing.

Any help in this would be appreciated.

Well if you can make it into Edinburgh on a friday night I run Dreamblade in the shop from 7. We normally play in a DCI sanctioned tournament until about 10 or half past.

And we've got some big events coming up soon as well :)

I'd have to miss out this Friday as I have another game to go to, this one of the 22 men and a pigskin variety. I will definitely try to make it one night as I need the practice, having only played a total of 3 games.

Azhdeen,

I live in Edinburgh but work in Livingston. If you required a lift to the shop from Livingston on Friday night , I could help you get there.

I leave Brucefield Industrial Estate at 17:00.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Georgie for the offer, its not so much needing a lift as I usually drive myself into the SESWC on Thursday night. It more a case of finding the time to go with all the other things I have going just now. I was hoping to make it next week, but as I am going to be in Bridge of Allan, I can't make it.

Azhdeen,

No problem. Hope to see you at Black-Lion sometime soon.

Back to your original question, I am unaware of any gaming groups in livingston. Maybe someone on this forum can help?

There is a Wargaming club in Livingston called Battleground, although they look like a purely Games Workshop group. Their website is here.

I've also found vague reference to Roleplaying in Livingston but nothing concrete. Remember that Google is your friend.

Another place to check/ask would be on the Scottish Gaming Yahoo Group. I remember there being someone else posting on there about gaming in Livingston a while back.

Hope this helps. Oh and if you're free on Saturday's you could always come along to ORC Edinburgh.

Cheers,

Dave

Gaming at ORC Edinburgh, come check us out.
Playing : Nothing.
Running : D&D, Star Wars d20, Unknown Armies and AFMBE.
Planning : Cold City, More D&D, Brave New World, The End and XCrawl.

Azhdeen,

I'm not sure how much use this is to you. But me and a friend have been trying to get a group together in Livingston based out of my house in Eliburn.

If this is of interest drop me a line on and we can exchange some ideas and have a chat.

Cheers

Hi, another Livingstonian here, looking to see if there's a group I can join mainly for miniature or boardgames. Also a roleplayer but part of another small group for that, which is likely to kick off in Falkirk soon, though we may need more folks for that, up to the GM but if theres spaces going then I can always post them here.

Hi Eggyt,

You interested in kicking something of in Livingston in the mean time? Little bit of role-playing, possibly some wargaming as well.

Certainly couldnt do anything this month as I'm swamped at work. Still would be good to get together when things calm down a bit. If my mates from Falkirk is up for it I'd brin him along too. He plays most of the same games I do.

I'll let you know.

Cheers.

I'll try and explain Battleground in a bit more detail.

Battleground is mostly Games Workshop based, though it's trying to move away from that a little and to explore other gaming systems and have a little more variety.

It normally meets on a Saturday morning at the Lanthorn Centre in Dedridge from 9am-12:30pm (Though realistically it's more like 9:30 before everything's set up and ready to start).
At the moment however, the Lanthorn's being renovated and such-like so the club has moved to Crofthead Farm. At the moment they aren't accepting new member until they're back at the Lanthorn, but I'm 90% sure they'd still be happy to have non-members drop-in and get a feel for the place.

Though the club itself has nothing planned, I know a few members would be intereted in trying out RPGs, etc.

To all the comments about gaming in and around Livingston/West Lothian. I did not realise how difficult it is to try and get a game together or join one for that matter. I am interested in starting up a game of D&D, but have not run anything in several years, and nothing in 3rd or 3.5 editions. If anyone is interested let me know at Maybe its time for some people to get together and form an actual club in Livingston there must be people in West Lothian Looking to play and cant find a game. email me and lets talk.

I know it is generally frowned upon to post to yuor own previous post but why not.

The First meeting of the Livingston Roleplayers Association (Name subject to change)will take place at St Margaret's R.C. High School, Livingston on 15th April time will be 1PM - 5pm all welcome. As this is the first meeting time will be taken up with the initiall setting up of games, however D&D is the choice of the majority of members at the moment. If you are interested in playing or GM'ing feel free to come along. you can contact me on my email on the post above.

Thanks
