With only a few days to go here's an update of whats going on:
For those of you haven’t been down to the shop on a Tuesday for a while, we’ve been playing Battletech a lot. When I say we, I mean Harlan and I, and when I say playing I mean dropping dice on the table, furiously colouring dots, consulting rulebooks and laughing very, very hard. Never go into the water. Even if its only level 1 water and you only need a 4+. If you’ve played, you know why…
The birthday weekend was awesome. I had a great time in the shop on Saturday passing the day with lots of people, old faces and new. We shared a delicious Chocolate Orange Brownie cake in the afternoon, provided by Tea@ 94 on short notice. Thank you again Michelle. Free gifts and discounts were distributed and given away and a lot of laughs were had.
On Sunday I ran my first session of Warhammer fantasy roleplay for adults in years. “For Crimes Against Pie” admittedly wound up being a bit more for “crimes against sausage” and has changed the way I will look at David’s finger forever but it was brilliant fun to run. There were many Purveyor’s of only the Finest things, there were rats, there were sewers, there was righteous Halfling vengeance and there was gastronomic torture of the kind only halflings are capable of. I haven’t laughed so much in a long while so thanks to Craig “The Spirit of Scottish Gaming” Oxbrow, Izzie, David, Stuart, Oda and Christopher for making it as much fun as it was :D
Now that’s over, I have to start planning the birthday party. So far this much is certain:
We’ll be in the Victoria Park Hotel all day and possibly into the evening on the 27th of October with loads of stuff. So far I have a small kids corner planned, a big table of Battletech, lego men, lots of games, 15 cakes and a 10 foot long death star trench to play X-Wing on…
Last week was all about the nerdage. I had some serious hardcore nerd chat for 4 days straight. I got to play some games, sell lots of stuff and meet loads of people. A pretty good end to the week really.
This week is all about the birthday. And restocking the shelves. On Saturday the 5th of October (this weekend in fact) we’ll be 15 years old. I’ll be here all day and I’m looking forward to it. Then we’re having a birthday party on the last Sunday of October (the 27th) in the Victoria Park Hotel. There’s still a lot to confirm and arrange but I’m hoping it will be as much fun as out 10th birthday party was! Also, 15 cakes. Even if I have to bake them myself…
Anyway, to start things off and help celebrate the fact that we’re older than some of our customers and certainly than most of the game lines we sell, we’ll be giving anyone who comes in and wishes us a Happy Birthday this week a 10% discount on their purchase!
